What can I expect during the program?

Which rebates am I eligible for?

See table below for full breakdown

1 Disadvantaged or low-income community customers are identified based on the California Climate Investments Priority Populations 2022 CES 4.0 map

2 The Dynamic Rate Enrollment incentive is contingent upon the participant maintaining enrollment in a qualifying dynamic rate through the duration of the program, which ends on February 27, 2027 or as otherwise notified. dcbel will notify customers when the eligible rate becomes available and provide instructions for enrollment. Should a participant discontinue enrollment in a dynamic rate at any point, they must immediately re-enroll in a qualifying time-of-use (TOU) rate to remain eligible for the program.

What documents are required?

California residents are eligible for exclusive clean energy subsidies as part of a California Energy Commission program administered by dcbel.

This program makes it easier for homes to reduce EV charging costs and avoid expensive time-of-use rates. Participants can support a cleaner, more reliable power supply—and get rewarded for it.

In 2024, dcbel was selected to receive the largest tranche of funding under the Responsive, Easy Charging Products With Dynamic Signals (REDWDS) grant administered by the California Energy Commission. This grant supports solutions that help EV drivers respond to dynamic grid signals to reduce energy costs and enhance grid reliability.

Smarter energy, without the effort. Our rebate program rewards you for switching to a dynamic energy rate—a pricing model where electricity costs change throughout the day based on real-time demand. Normally, that would mean constantly tracking prices and adjusting your usage. But with the dcbel Home Energy Station, you don’t have to.

Your Home Energy Station automatically manages how and when your home uses electricity. This includes intelligent EV charging and discharging that responds to real-time market prices, minimizing your costs and maximizing your earnings—all without you lifting a finger.

Rebate amounts vary based on where your home is located. Customers in areas designated as disadvantaged or low-income communities (“Priority customers”) may qualify for higher rebates. These designations are based on state guidelines that consider factors like income levels and environmental impact.

The following documents must be submitted to qualify rebate payments:

  • Proof of home ownership (property tax bill, mortgage document or home insurance policy) or written consent from the homeowner of a qualifying home located within the service territory of a California-based investor-owned or publicly owned utility

  • Current DMV registration for your qualified electric vehicle(s) inclusive of certain bidirectional models (Nissan Leaf model year 2018 or newer, Polestar 3, and Volvo EX90)

  • Current utility statement showing Time-of-Use (TOU), Dynamic, Shadow or Alternative Dynamic electricity rate plan

  • Signed installation contract from a qualified installer

  • Signed Interconnection Agreement invoice or payment receipt from utility, if applicable
